Snorkeling and Diving in Roatan, Caribbean Reef
All trips offered by Mowgli Expeditions are curated and hand picked from the various travels we have either undertaken personally or researched thoroughly. We are excited to offer this 7-day adventure for snorkeling and diving at one of the best places in the world, yet so close to the US.
Dates: June 16 - 23, 2019
Roatan, Bay Islands: That delightful core of the Caribbean that is home to some of the most spectacular coral reefs, pristine beaches and enthralling wildlife. Join Mowgli Expeditions as we venture out to Roatan, a quaint Bay island known for the amazing scuba diving and snorkeling experiences, along with sunny beaches, delicious food, and a serene atmosphere.
This trip is not just for diving enthusiasts but for people who love snorkeling as well! The reef hee in Roatan is unique as it surrounds the island and is just a short swim away. It's a treasure trove of marine life.
This is what this adventure looks like:
Day 1 Sunday - Arrival in San Pedro Sula and on to Roatan.
Our trip starts in Honduras, as we arrive at San Pedro International Airport and take a short flight to Roatan island. We check into our lodge right on the beach and spend some time to get to know each other a little better.
Day 2,3 - Mon,Tue - June 17,18 - Start of PADI certification/snorkeling
Those who have signed up for the scuba diving course will have their first session today.
The snorkelers shall head to a location called West Bay which is at the tip of the island and go snorkeling here. This is where the reefs are closest to the water, and marine life is abundant.
Snorkelers get to swim alongside Angelfish, Chubs, some Seabass and more. Each reef is a thriving ecosystem with life of its own.
We shall have lunch at the famous Ibagari restaurant before afternoon snorkeling. In the evening we shall return to our lodge.
Day 4,5 - June 19,20
Those who have signed up for the scuba diving course will spend these two days completing their training. Day 5 shall be the FINAL open water dives for them to complete their PADI open water certification. Yay!!!
Snorkelers shall explore the reef snorkeling at West End, a popular destination in Roatan. The snorkelers shall get to the outer reefs by boat.
The divers who are already certified too shall go for two daily dives. As the outer reefs are on the outside edge away from the beach - they are more pristine and teeming with colorful fish!
Day 6,7 Friday, Saturday - Sandy Bay and Marine Park
The next two days we shall spend at the Sandy bay and the Marine park. Sandy Bay is one of the more remote bays on the island. Although Sandy Bay requires us to swim out to the sea for snorkeling this area is also relatively untouched so there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen.
At the end of the day, we shall return to Half Moon Bay to chill in the evenings in true Caribbean style - listening to reggae, enjoying some Caribbean rum punch and local food.
Day 8 - Sunday - Dapart Roatan.
We head to the RTB airport to catch our flight to Sula San Pedro(SAP) on the mainland and then our flight back home, taking some amazing memories back with us.

*USD 1750 per person – For Certified Divers - 10 dives
*USD 1450 per person – Snorkeling trip
(Includes internal airflight from SAP airport to Roatan airport and back.)

● Breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Roatan starting with dinner on day 1 and ending with breakfast on day 8.
● Lodging on twin/triple sharing basis
● Open Water OR advanced open water PADI certification course
● Includes 6 trips by boat to other side of reef for snorkelers.
● Includes 10 dives by boat for certified divers
● Snorkeling and diving equipment.

Exclusions:
● Any personal expenses
● Snacks, beverages, alcoholic drinks
● Cost for days before and after the trip.
